This week: Making a change for good

Friday May 16 is Food Revolution Day, an initiative of the amazing Jamie Oliver. And why a revolution? Because we need to take positive action against the following facts:

– Children today are the first generation predicted to live shorter lives than their parents because of diet and inactivity

– Type-2 diabetes, previously considered a disease specific only to adults, is now becoming prevalent in children as young as eight years old

And we can start doing something about it today! Teaching our kids where their food comes from starts at home, with a pot of herbs on the kitchen window sill or planting a couple of different kids of vegetable seeds in pots to keep on the balcony or in the garden.

We can start small to make a big change, and that’s what a revolution is all about!
